Abstract

Ground-state phase diagram of the mixed spin-1/2 and spin-1 Ising-Heisenberg model on doubly decorated planar lattices is examined using the generalized decoration-iteration transformation. The main attention is devoted to the comparison of the ground-state properties of the quantum Ising-Heisenberg model and its semi-classical Ising analogue.

Phase transitions of geometrically frustrated mixed spin-1/2 and spin-1 Ising-Heisenberg model on diamond-like decorated planar lattices

Lucia Gálisová, Jozef Strečka

Phase transitions of the mixed spin-1/2 and spin-1 Ising-Heisenberg model on several decorated planar lattices consisting of interconnected diamonds are investigated within the framework of the generalized decoration-iteration transformation. The main attention is paid to the systematic study of the finite-temperature phase diagrams in dependence on the lattice topology. The critical behaviour of the hybrid quantum-classical Ising-Heisenberg model is compared with the relevant behaviour of its semi-classical Ising analogue. It is shown that both models on diamond-like decorated planar lattices exhibit a striking critical behaviour including reentrant phase transitions. The higher the lattice coordination number is, the more pronounced reentrance may be detected.

Unusual quantum phase in exactly solvable doubly decorated Ising-Heisenberg models

Jozef Strečka, M. Jaščur

Ground-state properties of the spin-1/2 and spin-1 Ising-Heisenberg model on doubly decorated planar lattices, are investigated in detail. On the basis of the mapping transformation method, we prove an existence of unusual quantum phases which occur due to the competition between Ising-type and XXZ anizotropic Heisenberg-type interactions. Effect of the crystal field on the ground-state phase boundaries has been also examined in detail.

Magnetic properties of exactly solvable doubly decorated Ising-Heisenberg planar models

Jozef Strečka, M. Jaščur

Applying the decoration-iteration procedure, we introduce a class of exactly solvable doubly decorated planar models consisting both of the Ising- and Heisenberg-type atoms. Exact solutions for the ground state, phase diagrams, and basic physical quantities are derived and discussed. The detailed analysis of the relevant quantities suggests the existence of an interesting quantum antiferromagnetic phase in the system.

Reentrant phenomenon in the exactly solvable mixed spin-1/2 and spin-1 Ising-Heisenberg model on diamond-like decorated planar lattices

Lucia Čanová, Jozef Strečka

Ground-state and finite-temperature behaviour of the mixed spin-1/2 and spin-1 Ising–Heisenberg model on decorated planar lattices consisting of inter-connected diamonds is investigated by means of the generalised decoration–iteration mapping transformation. The obtained exact results clearly point out that this model has a rather complex ground state composed of two unusual quantum phases, which is valid regardless of the lattice topology as well as the spatial dimensionality of the investigated system. It is shown that the diamond-like decorated planar lattices with a sufficiently high coordination number may exhibit a striking critical behaviour including reentrant phase transitions with two or three consecutive critical points.

A hybrid lattice-statistical model on doubly decorated planar lattices, which have localized Ising spins at their nodal lattice sites and two itinerant electrons at each pair of decorating sites, is exactly solved by the use of a generalized decoration-iteration transformation. Our main attention is focused on an influence of the on-site Coulomb repulsion on ground-state properties and critical behavior of the investigated system.

Critical phenomena in the spin-1/2 Ising-Heisenberg model on decorated planar lattices with a magnetoelastic coupling

Jozef Strečka, Onofre Rojas, S. M. de Souza

Magnetoelastic properties of the spin-1/2 Ising-Heisenberg model on doubly decorated planar lattices partially amenable to lattice vibrations are examined within the framework of the harmonic approximation and decoration-iteration transformation. It is shown that the mutual interplay between quantum spin fluctuations and local fluctuations of lattice spacings enhances typical quantum features like the quantum reduction of the magnetization in the ground state of the quantum antiferromagnetic phase, while it does not affect the ground-state behaviour of the classical ferromagnetic phase by no means. It also turns out that local fluctuations of lattice spacings are responsible for a much more pronounced reduction of the critical temperature in the quantum antiferromagnetic phase than in the classical ferromagnetic phase.
