High-Temperature Expansion of the Free Energy in the Two-Dimensional XY Model

Abstract

We extend the high-temperature series of the free energy for the XY model in two dimensions to order β48 from the previous order of β22 by applying an improved algorithm of the finite lattice method. The long series obtained allows us to conclude that the behavior of the free energy is consistent to high accuracy with what is expected when the phase transition of the model is of the Kosterlitz-Thouless type.

High-temperature expansion of the magnetic susceptibility and higher moments of the correlation function for the two-dimensional XY model

H. Arisue

We calculate the high-temperature series of the magnetic susceptibility and the second and fourth moments of the correlation function for the XY model on the square lattice to order beta;{33} by applying the improved algorithm of the finite lattice method. The long series allow us to estimate the inverse critical temperature as beta_{c}=1.1200(1) , which is consistent with the most precise value given previously by the Monte Carlo simulation. The critical exponent for the multiplicative logarithmic correction is evaluated to be theta=0.054(10) , which is consistent with the renormalization group prediction of theta=1/16 .

New algorithm of the high-temperature expansion for the Ising model in three dimensions

Arisue, H, Fujiwara, T

New algorithm of the finite lattice method is presented to generate the high-temperature expansion series of the Ising model. It enables us to obtain much longer series in three dimensions when compared not only to the previous algorithm of the finite lattice method but also to the standard graphical method. It is applied to extend the high-temperature series of the simple cubic Ising model from beta^{26} to beta^{46} for the free energy and from beta^{25} to beta^{32} for the magnetic susceptibility.

High-temperature study of the Kosterlitz-Thouless phase transition in theXYmodel on the triangular lattice

P. Butera, M. Comi

High-temperature series expansions of the spin-spin correlation function for the XY (or plane rotator) model on the triangular lattice are extended by two terms up to order ${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\beta}}}^{14}$. Tables of the expansion coefficients are reported for the correlaton function spherical moments of order l=0 and 2. Our analysis of the series supports the Kosterlitz-Thouless predictions on the structure of the critical singularities and leads to fairly accurate estimates of the critical parameters.

High-temperature series expansions of the spin-spin correlation function for the plane rotator (or XY) model on the square lattice are extended by three terms through order ${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\beta}}}^{20}$. Tables of the expansion coefficients are reported for the correlation function spherical moments of order l=0,1,2. The expansion coefficients through ${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\beta}}}^{15}$ for the vorticity are also tabulated. Algorithm of the finite-lattice method for high-temperature expansion of the Ising model in three dimensions

H. Arisue, Toshiaki Fujiwara

We propose an algorithm of the finite-lattice method to generate the high-temperature series for the Ising model in three dimensions. It enables us to extend the series for the free energy of the simple-cubic lattice from the previous series of 26th order to 46th order in the inverse temperature. The obtained series give the estimate of the critical exponent for the specific heat in high precision.

Critical behavior of the two-dimensionalXYmodel: An analysis of extended high-temperature series

P. Butera, M. Comi, G. Marchesini

High-temperature series are extended through ${\ensuremath{\beta}}^{17}$ for the susceptibility and for the first and second moments of the correlation functions, in the case of the classical two-dimensional O(2) Heisenberg model (also called the XY model). For the ``true mass gap'' the high-temperature expansion is computed through ${\ensuremath{\beta}}^{12}$. The calculations are performed by a new computer program which solves iteratively the Schwinger-Dyson equations of the model. Ratio-extrapolation, Euler-transform and Pad\'e techniques are used to analyze the series and to discriminate between the recently reproposed conventional power-law form of the critical singularity and the form predicted by Kosterlitz and Thouless. The critical parameters are determined for the Kosterlitz-Thouless form, which is clearly favored by our data.
