Abstract

We analyze mixed multi-qubit states composed of a W class state and a product state with all qubit in |0>. We find the optimal pure state decomposition and convex roofs for higher-tangle with bipartite partition between one qubit and the rest qubits for those mixed states. The optimality of the decomposition is ensured by the Coffman-Kundu-Wootters (CKW) inequality which describes the monogamy of quantum entanglement. The generalized monogamy inequality is found to be true for W class states with arbitrary partitions between one qubit and multi-qubit.

Entangled Three-Qubit States without Concurrence and Three-Tangle

Robert Lohmayer, Andreas Osterloh, Jens Siewert +1 more

We provide a complete analysis of mixed three-qubit states composed of a Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger state and a W state orthogonal to the former. We present optimal decompositions and convex roofs for the three-tangle. Further, we provide an analytical method to decide whether or not an arbitrary rank-2 state of three qubits has vanishing three-tangle. These results highlight intriguing differences compared to the properties of two-qubit mixed states, and may serve as a quantitative reference for future studies of entanglement in multipartite mixed states. By studying the Coffman-Kundu-Wootters inequality we find that, while the amounts of inequivalent entanglement types strictly add up for pure states, this "monogamy" can be lifted for mixed states by virtue of vanishing tangle measures.

Proper monogamy inequality for arbitrary pure quantum states

Yong-Cheng Ou, Heng Fan, Shao-Ming Fei

We provide a detailed proof of an analytical lower bound of entanglement quantified by concurrence for arbitrary bipartite quantum states. It is shown that though the bound does not allow one to detect bound entanglement, it is tight for some mixed states and can detect most of the free entanglement. On the other hand, it is known that the entanglement monogamy inequality proposed by Coffman, Kundu, and Wootters is, in general, not true for higher-dimensional quantum states. Inducing from the lower bound of concurrence, we find a proper form of entanglement monogamy inequality for arbitrary pure quantum states.

Strong monogamy of four-qubit entanglement

Bartosz Regula, Sara Di Martino, Soojoon Lee +1 more

We investigate the distribution of bipartite and multipartite entanglement in multiqubit states. In particular we define a set of monogamy inequalities sharpening the conventional Coffman-Kundu-Wootters constraints, and we provide analytical proofs of their validity for relevant classes of states. We present extensive numerical evidence validating the conjectured strong monogamy inequalities for arbitrary pure states of four qubits.

Violation of monogamy inequality for higher-dimensional objects

Yong-Cheng Ou

Bipartite quantum entanglement for qutrits and higher-dimensional objects is considered. We analyze the possibility of violation of monogamy inequality, introduced by Coffman, Kundu, and Wootters, for some systems composed of such objects. An explicit counterexample with a three-qutrit totally antisymmetric state is presented. Since three-tangle has been confirmed to be a natural measure of entanglement for qubit systems, our result shows that the three-tangle is no longer a legitimate measure of entanglement for states with three qutrits or higher-dimensional objects.

General Monogamy Inequality for Bipartite Qubit Entanglement

Tobias J. Osborne, Frank Verstraete

We consider multipartite states of qubits and prove that their bipartite quantum entanglement, as quantified by the concurrence, satisfies a monogamy inequality conjectured by Coffman, Kundu, and Wootters. We relate this monogamy inequality to the concept of frustration of correlations in quantum spin systems.
