Overview

The Global Industry Challenge is a platform for innovators, entrepreneurs, and industry leaders to engage in collaborative action to solve practical use cases using quantum and quantum adjacencies such as AI. The 2026 Challenge is hosted by Connected DMV and supported by American Physical Society, Aqora, qBraid, and Quantum World Congress. Platform Providers include D-Wave and IBM. With use-cases posed by Challenge Providers, AIST, Mitsubishi Chemical, qBraid, MITRE, JonesTrading, Quantum Computing Inc, and a Confidential US Federal Agency.
The Challenge targets the development of solutions for key sectors that drive the quantum industry. It is more than just a competition. It’s a global movement to drive quantum breakthroughs in Energy Infrastructure, Advanced Materials, and Dynamic Systems Forecasting.
Innovators, researchers, and industry leaders will collaborate to tackle real‑world challenges with access to cutting‑edge quantum platforms. By bringing together diverse teams and resources, the Challenge aims to accelerate the practical implementation of quantum technologies across key sectors. The 2025 competition brought together over 600 applicants from 60+ countries around the world, culminating in winning teams presenting and being awarded at the Quantum World Congress.

Collaborative efforts between individuals with different skill sets can lead to innovative solutions.

Team Formation

How do I build a team?
If you already have a team, great! Look for instructions on our partner site Aqora to submit your team information for the use case you choose to pursue.
Create a Team:
  1. Open your profile in the top‑right corner of aqora.io.
  2. Click on your profile.
  3. Click Organizations.
  4. Press the Create Organization button.
Add Members to a Team — Once the Organization (Team) is Created:

  4. See Demo Here (note: this was for the 2025 challenge)
How do I find a team or teammates?
If you do not have a team yet, no worries! The first phase of the challenge gives you the space to connect with others and build a team. You can use the discussion board hosted on our partner site Aqora to reach out to others and connect with those you want to work with. Post on the corresponding discussion board if you are looking to join a team or recruit for an existing team. Subscribe to the topic for email updates.
Who should be on the team?
We recommend teams of 1‑5 participants to balance the workload. Although there is no minimum team size, you may not have over 5 people on a team. We recommend that your team be diverse, with teammates filling the following roles: Coder; Data/Technical Lead; Content/Knowledge Expert; Business/Production; and Project Manager/Team Coordinator.
Teams must be formed by the Phase 1 Deadline (Sunday, April 5, 11:59 PM (EST)), you may not add additional members following this deadline. Teammates can drop out, but please inform the organizers.
How do I communicate with my team?
You can utilize the Aqora discussion board to communicate with your team once you have identified teammates, or you can set up alternate forms of communication once you have connected.
