I haven’t heard about this approach myself before, popped up on my LinkedIn. According to John Preskill:
Rob Schoelkopf predicts that using dual-rail superconducting qubits (for which most errors are detectable) will reduce the overhead cost of quantum error correction by "orders of magnitude."
